LegitScript is an independent organisation that reviews healthcare businesses, like telehealth services and online pharmacies, against the laws and standards that apply to them. Major ad platforms and payment networks use its certification to tell legitimate healthcare businesses from the rest.

When you're getting treatment online, it's worth knowing who you're dealing with. Being certified means LidMate has been independently checked, and keeps being checked, on the things that matter most.

Three steps. That's it.

How it works

Answer a few questions and a registered Australian doctor gives you a straight answer. If you go ahead, treatment is shipped directly to your door.

  1. Step One

A couple of minutes, then straight to a doctor.

Fill in a short questionnaire about your hair, your health, and what you've been noticing. Plain language, no jargon, no pressure.

A registered Australian doctor then reads it personally and assesses what's going on. No automated results, no guesswork.

  2. Step Two

    Clear advice from your doctor.

Whether treatment is right for you or not, you'll get a straight answer. If it is, your doctor will outline your options with a call.

Then it's over to you, no rush, no hard sell.

  3. Step Three

Still have a question?Get in touch →

  1. For most men it comes down to genetics. Male pattern hair loss runs in families and can show up earlier than you'd expect, sometimes in your twenties, sometimes sooner.

Hormonal changes and things like nutrient deficiencies can play a role too, but the honest answer for most blokes is: it's in the genes.

One key hormone involved is DHT. DHT is a hormone that does useful things when you're younger. Later in life, if levels run high, it can start working against your hair, gradually shrinking follicles and shortening the window each hair has to grow. It's a slow process, which is exactly why getting on top of it earlier tends to give you more to work with.

  2. Your body converts testosterone into DHT naturally. For most men that's fine. But when DHT levels climb too high, the effects can include male pattern hair loss and, in some cases, an enlarged prostate. It's one of those things worth keeping in check.

  3. The evidence is solid.

Around 90% of men maintain what they have, and about two-thirds see some regrowth on top of that.

Side effects are uncommon, with around 2% of men experiencing them, and when they do occur they're generally mild and tend to resolve on their own. Not bad odds for keeping the good stuff going.

  4. Like anything you put in your body, side effects are possible, but they're not common. These medications have been used for decades and are well studied. Most men get on with them without any issues. Your LidMate doctor will talk you through what to watch for and is available if anything comes up.

  5. LidMate doctors prescribe the two most clinically supported treatments for male pattern hair loss, combined into a single daily tablet or topical foam.

Both have been used for decades and have a strong track record. Your doctor will confirm whether they're the right fit for you before anything is prescribed.

I'm Dr William Jarvis, Medical Practitioner (General Registration, MED0002194798).

I'm a hair transplant doctor at Elite Hair Clinic and co-founder of LidMate.

Over the years, I've consulted with a lot of patients about hair restoration, and I noticed a pattern. Many of the people sitting in my consult room didn't need a procedure. They needed earlier access to medical treatment, and someone to talk them through the options.

That's what LidMate is built for - access to a doctor who can assess your hair loss and, where it's appropriate, prescribe treatment.

Hair thinning is more common than most people realise. Around half of men notice some degree of hair loss by the age of 50. It's a normal part of life.

For people who do want to treat it, there are well-established medical options that may help slow further loss.

Not everyone is suitable for treatment, and all medications carry potential side effects. Our doctors will review your case, talk you through what might and might not work for you, and explain the risks.

It takes a couple of minutes to get started. We hope to help you soon!
